About 78 Ghanaians have arrived at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra from the United States of America as the second batch of deportees following Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal migrants.
Most of the deportees were handcuffed as they disembarked from the chartered flight, Onua FM‘s Kweku Antwi-Otoo reported on Wednesday.

All of them are males.
Officers of the National Disaster Management Organisation (Nadmo), the Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Police Service were on stand-by to assist the deportees go through screening.
Onua FM‘s reporter said after the deported were screened and cleared, each was given a GH¢100 to return to their various destinations.
Three of them who were the first to be cleared told our correspondent that they had no phones to even reach their family and relatives.
Most of the deportees have no belongings, Kweku Antwi-Otoo reported.
Some are from Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions.
The deportation comes on the back of US President Trump’s resolve to rid his country of illegal migrants including Ghanaians.
About 7, 000 Ghanaians in the US are said to be affected by the decree.
Last month, the US Ambassador to Ghana, Robert P. Jackson, disclosed that 100 have already arrived in Ghana with more to follow.

Welcome To BtvfShowNewsOnline.com        Source: Ghana | Hitz FM |   Date: 22/05/2017

Rapper Trigmatic is set to launch a campaign, ‘Grow Ghana Eat Ghana’ to encourage the youth to go into agriculture.
Trigmatic, in an interview on Daybreak Hitz with KMJ, said that the campaign is aimed at creating awareness of how important agriculture is in the development of the country.
He explained that, “’Grow Ghana Eat Ghana Campaign’ is about being able to monitor or being in control of the things you eat, I hear people importing rubber rice and all sort of things. Since Ghana has been blessed, we have to bring our agriculture back as indicated (green) in the Ghana in our flag. We want more people to get involved especially the youth because it’s important to control and grow what we eat.”
“I was super excited when the president [Nana Akufo-Addo] officially launched the campaign on agriculture therefore, we need to concentrate on the agricultural sector too, we need to have an agenda and this agenda is what we are pushing,” he said.
The “Life” hit maker also spoke to KMJ about his four-acre rice farm he has already started at Ahwerenkwanta.
Trigmatic asserted that, “We started with just an acre and since we were not getting sponsors. We needed to grow our own rice, harvest and donate till it expanded.”
He added that, “In a couple of days, I will take few of my journalist friends to see how it all began and an experience of how the farm looks like. We are already involved [and] in a couple of days, it will be officially launched and push it as national agenda.”

Zimbabwe: Pastor talks to ‘God’ on the phone during service (Video)

Welcome To BtvfShowNewsOnline.com
Source: citizen.co.za    Date: 22/05/2017

A pastor has claimed to have a direct phone number to heaven, after a video of him talking on the phone during a church service emerged.
“I actually have a direct line which I can call Him on and get instructions on how to proceed,” Pastor Paul Sanyangore of Victory World International has been quoted as saying. In the video, the pastor can be seen holding his cell phone and responding to God’s questions, he claims.
He calls a woman from the crowd, and as she kneels down, he then starts receiving instructions from “heaven”.
“Hello, is this heaven? I have a woman here, what do you have to say about her? Oh … I should ask her who is Sibo,” he asks “heaven”. The woman then responds telling him who the said person is.
“What else Papa God? What else? God is telling me to ask you why is it He’s showing me a heart?”
The woman again responds.
“He says we should pray for your children, two of them. He is saying the other one is epileptic, the other one is asthmatic. He is saying I should ask you who is in Bulawayo.”
The woman then tells the pastor that the said children are in Bulawayo.
“God is telling me to tell you your story has changed. God is telling me to ask you about a food outlet.”
Again the woman responds.
“Heaven in online,” he says.
In an interview with Zimbabwean news site H-Metro, the pastor, also known as Pastor Talent, said he did not understand why people were surprised about his actions, further claiming to have a direct number to God.
“I have a direct channel, actually I have His number and I can call Him when need arises. It is possible to talk to God; why would you doubt that I got a call from Him? I actually have a direct line which I can call Him on and get instructions on how to proceed. I got this when I was praying and I heard a voice telling me to call direct,” he was quoted as saying.
He reportedly said he would make the numbers available to the public when the time was right.

‘Allow us to work else all die be die’ – small scale mining group to Akufo-Addo

Welcome To BtvfShowNewsOnline.com
Date: 18/05/2017

Members of a small scale mining group in the country have issued a three-day ultimatum to the government to allow them to return to their pits or face their wrath. “We have given the president three days to allow us work otherwise all die be die,” Frank Osei who is the Chairman of the group, Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners, told journalists Thursday. Civil society organizations and the media recently joined the government to launch series of campaigns against illegal mining which is causing havoc to livelihoods and property as well as Ghana’s water bodies and forest covers. But the group has since the government’s renewed fight against illegal mining in the country, expressed its dissatisfaction, particularly on the basis that even those operating with requisite licence have been boxed together with the illegal ones It has been demanding that government draws the line between illegal small scale miners and legitimate small scale miners with licence. Earlier in April, the group expressed its readiness to assist the government in fighting the menace of illegal mining, popularly referred to as galamsey. Consequent to that members of the group announced their intention to constitute a taskforce with the mandate to monitor and report activities of illegal miners to security personnel. But the government directed the suspension of all small scale mining activities in a move to streamline the licensing and operations of the sector. Over 500 excavators have so far been moved from various mining sites across the country. “We are not illegal miners. We have licence that’s why we don’t want the government to box us together,” he lamented. The miners have threatened to hit the street and protest vehemently even if it will cost their lives. “We are ready to die than to live and not work” Frank Osei, said Thursday, and condemned and described as harsh, the destruction of some excavators belonging to some of their members who are operating with licence, The miners have blamed the media for fuelling the fight against small scale mining in the country.

Re-open case against freed Delta Force 8 – GBA demands

Welcome To BtvfShowNewsOnline.com
Date: 18/05/2017
The eight accused were released on Wednesday, May 17

The Ghana Bar Association says the discharge of the eight members of the vigilante group, Delta Force, by the Circuit Court in Kumasi on the basis of lack of evidence, is a threat to rule of law in the country. It is thus demanding the reopening of the case in which the eight were being tried for storming the courtroom to harass the judge and other court officials, and forcibly freeing 13 other members of the pro New Patriotic Party group. After weeks of preliminary proceedings, a senior State Attorney who handled the case docket advised in a letter to the Police that the case be discontinued on the basis of lack of evidence consequent to which the court on Wednesday, May 17 freed the eight. Their discharge, however, has since been condemned by many Ghanaians with the Attorney General and her office being accused of having interfered in the matter. But the government claimed in a statement Wednesday evening that the decision of the State Attorney to discontinue the case was without “recourse to higher authority” in the AG’s Department, and added investigations into the matter had commenced. Thoroughly investigate A statement issued by the GBA Thursday expressed disquiet about the development, noting the discharge “would not signify an end of the matter,” and asked the Police to “thoroughly investigate the matter in its entirety”. “We call upon the police to interview the court officials, lawyers and litigants who were in court on the day in order to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the statement signed by the national President and Secretary advised. For the GBA, “justice will not be served if the discharge of the accused persons ends the matter”. It thus reiterated its call to the Police on April 6, to ensure that “all persons who played any role whatsoever in the attack on the court are arrested, duly charged and prosecuted.”

Catholic Priests back gov’t galamsey fight with ‘operation touch heaven’

Welcome To BtvfShowNewsOnline.com
Galamsey in Ghana
Some Catholic Priests from areas where there is illegal mining activities in the Central Region have launched a campaign to support government efforts to end the menace.
The campaign christened ‘Operation touch heaven’ is for the priests to intercede in prayers on behalf of government officials and media personnel who are committed to the anti-galamsey fight.
The priests at a news conference at Jukwa Krobo Wednesday, said the galamsey fight will not be sustainable if it is not backed by prayers by religious leaders and their members.
Mining on the Ankobrah River
Priest in-charge of Jukwa Krobo Immaculate Heart of Mary Grotto, Reverend Father David Paintsil said the campaign will rally the various religious faiths to support the work of the media and government in the galamsey fight.
"We are going to pray until it ends...we are not going to challenge the government, but we will do our part as citizens to support it," he said.
Rev Father Paintsil told Joy News' Central Regional Correspondent, Kwadwo Nyarko the Campaign was started because they [priests] appreciated the complex nature of the anti-galamsey fight.
He was forthright that the country needs a "divine intervention and help from above" to be able to stop illegal mining in the country.
Ghana is losing its water bodies and forest reserve to activities of illegal miners. The Tano River in the Brong Ahafo Region has dried up for the first time in 40 years. Residents of the Region have blamed the development on galamsey activities.
The Brim River in the Eastern Region and Ankobrah River in the Western Region have been muddied to an extent that Ghana Water Company says it will cost more money for treatment.
Experts have warned the country might import water from its neighbours in 2020 if the current practice is not stopped.
Lands Minister, John Peter Amewu has been visiting some illegal mining sites after a three week ultimatum to galamsey operators to halt their operation elapsed.
He has asked the nine mining inspectors across the country to proceed on leave for being lax in the galamsey fight.
Government has drafted the Multilateral Mining Integration Project (MMIP) that is expected to provide an alternative means of livelihood to the people who will be displaced as a result of the campaign.
According to Mr Amewu, the five-year programme will ensure that mining in the country are done in an eco-friendly manner.
The Catholic Priests said their campaign is also targeted at creating awareness about the environmental and health dangers of galamsey in the Central Region.
"We need to educate our members in the churches and mosques to also discourage the menace," Rev Father Paintsil said.

Akufo-Addo gives reasons for 6 new ministries

Welcome To BtvfShowNewsOnline.com     Source: Graphic.com.gh
President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has explained why new ministerial portfolios have been created under his administration.

The President has so far nominated 25 people to man various ministerial portfolios, out of which six are new creations.

The Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing has been split into two as Sanitation and Water Resources, and then Works and Housing. They are to be manned by Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo and Mr Samuel Atta Akyea, MP for Abuakwa South respectively.

The other new creation is Monitoring and Evaluation to be manned by Dr Anthony Akoto Osei; MP for Tafo Pankrono in Kumasi.

Others are Railway Development which is to be handled by Mr Joe Ghartey, MP for Esikado-Ketan in the Western Region and Regional Reorganization and Development to be managed by Mr Dan Kweku Botwe, MP for Okere in the Eastern Region.

On Tuesday, the President also announced the creation of the Senior Minister's portfolio to be handled by Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo and National Security to be handled by Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah.

At a press conference at the Flagstaff House Wednesday, President Akufo-Addo gave explanations for the creation of the new portfolios.

Regional Reorganization and Development

As part of its manifesto, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) promised the creation of new regions and election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives.

It is for this reason that the president explained that the creation of the portfolio was ensure the restructuring of the governance system in the country.

“We believe that the nearer a government comes to the doorsteps of our people, the more efficient and more satisfactory its outcome. That is why we are insisting on competitive politics in local government and we are going to create the conditions that will allow district chief executives, mayors, metropolitan chief executives, municipal chief executives now to be directly elected by the people they are going to govern.”

“It is by the same token, the process of devolution of power, will require that we look again at the regional structures of our country all in the aim of trying to promote rapid development in Ghana,” he explained.

According to him, the Minister-designate would work to ensure the creation of four new regions from the Western, Brong Ahafo, Northern and Volta Regions respectively.

“For us to be successful I think that it is important for the more efficient governance that we are seeking for Ghana that we succeed for these efforts of creating these regions. And for me it means that the NPP, we have to find amongst ourselves a heavy hitter, a major political hitter within ourselves who has the extensive experience and capacity in mass mobilisation,” he added.

Railways Development

According to President Akufo-Addo, the development of the railway infrastructure in the country would go a long way to improve the economy by opening up the country for trade.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the way the railway system had been abandoned following independence, the President pledged “to do everything possible to find the money and rebuild our railway system in Ghana”, adding that it would be one of the important capstones for determining the success or failure of his government.

“If we are going to be serious about the economic development of our country, we have to open it up. And it’s a railway system that is efficient to connect us to the Sahel and hopefully will one day connect us to the larger West African project that is in view,” he said.

Sanitation and Water Resources

According to President Akufo-Addo, the decision to split water and sanitation from the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing stemmed from the neglect of that zone.

“A major challenge facing our country is access to water to our people. Indeed, ‘water for all’ is one of our slogans for our 2016 manifesto. As much as that is a challenge, equal is the challenge of our environment,” he explained.

He said one of the slogans for the NPP during its campaign was to provide “toilets for all” and for that matter he saw it necessary to create a portfolio that would concentrate solely in ensuring that the country was clean and that each household was provided with a toilet facility.

“The structures we have for sanitation are not the best and that they require significant enhancement. We also made a slogan ‘a toilet for all’ and these are matters we take very seriously and as a result I have decided that I need a steady hand, an experienced hand it think that it is better standing with sanitation.”

Monitoring and Evaluation

It will be in the Office of the President and the Minister responsible will have the right to talk to everybody in all the Ministries to monitor and evaluate their performance.

The other two creations are National Security and Senior Minister.
